People make it look so easy.. ..to remain composed and self possessed in the midst of chaos. To swallow pain, dismiss and minimise negative emotions and maintain a hard exterior. “Keeping it together” is a quickfix that puts strain on our mental health. It’s not good to continue on at the same pace knowing that something is wrong and needs tending to; ask any car mechanic. We can admit defeat when we feel overwhelmed and require rest. We can disassemble ourselves to build ourselves anew; stronger, wiser and more self aware. It’s OK to be messy, sensitive, insufferable sometimes. To allow the intelligence of pain and tragedy to contort us. To not put up a fight and resist for fear of vulnerability. We can and will fall down, break down, get knocked down.
