Sometimes I feel that art/sketching has been my best friend over the years, it has lifted me up when I was feeling down, given me hope when I despaired, filled me up with joy and ecstacy when there was little reason to feel so. This association has given so much meaning to my life that I will remain indebted to it forever.
Having reached 100k plus followers, I realized that I have not formally introduced myself. I am Anu, the mind behind this little world of art and training known as Artsycraftsy. All the work that you see here is done by me and I am involved in all the aspects, right from conceptualizing to creating and training little minds.
I was born in India and lived there for 20 years of my life until I moved to Singapore after my marriage. Well, you will be surprised to know that I am a trained engineer but obviously life had other plans for me. I still remember my fascination with colors as a school kid, I think my love affair with art started right then. I tried learning art in various forms on an off during my formative years but never really thought of pursuing it professionally. I guess my analytical mind just took over my creative side.
After moving to Singapore and having taken a break, I had an insight to start my career afresh. And of course my creative calling came to the fore and for once I didn’t suppress it with self doubt and allowed myself to follow my instincts.
Initially I started with handmade paintings and also dabbled in some craft projects and though it did satisfy me to an extent but it was not something I could see myself do for a long time. And in the midst of this conundrum came a bright spark, I got into sketching, I started sketching my friends, pets and anything else that caught my fancy and voila, I had found my true calling. It quickly grew into a unique and compelling passion for me.
And so Artsycraftsy was born, a baby whom I have nurtured and nourished with love, care, sweat and blood. When I started this venture it was only with the intention of creating art for my friends and family but with all the praise and adulation that I received for my work spurred me to start training. And 10 years ago I officially made this my full time job. The community here has played a huge part in my story and success.
As a proud founder of Artsycrafty today, I want to thank each and everyone who has helped me grow in this creative journey, I really look forward to your continued support.
