God Shu on his Flying Chariot by Doran DaDa in Berkeley
God Shu on his Flying Chariot
My newest mural located in Berkeley, Ca. on Adeline St. near the Ashby BART station. This mural is painted in my Egyptian Wonderland art style. God Shu represents the air and peace. He wears the truth feather in his hair as a symbolic gesture to the native Ohlone people of the Bay Area.
In recent years, I created a series of artworks based on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic-alchemy. The works are a personal journey driven by a deep lifelong connection to Egypt and Eastern Africa, where a recent DNA test confirmed my lineage and ancestral memory.
The artworks employ the African American science of "conjure”, to manifest esoteric symbolism of the hieroglyphs. I summon metaphysical archetypes in my works as I decode ancient hieroglyphs, reconstructing them into simplistic or abstract 2-dimensional acrylic paintings, murals, and digital art. I intend to connect people to divine knowledge and inspire a higher spiritual awareness.
Born in San Francisco, I received my BFA in The Netherlands at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and my MFA in digital arts in San Francisco at the Academy of Art University. I have a multi-career as a painter, new media artist (digital art/NFT), and a visual effects compositor on feature films and TV. Both painting and digital art have been my two intertwining lifelong passions.
