The Jubilee Dancers by Doran DaDa in Berkeley

The Jubilee Dancers

2021, 24 x 35.7 inches. The Jubilee dancers are a new series of paintings I recently started. They represent the celebration of Black/African culture and achievements. The composition is copied directly off the walls of ancient Egypt. In the ancient originals, the women are portrayed as musicians at various sacred festivals. I recreated those scenes as women dancers with the holy lotus flowers. In ancient Kemetic Egypt, the lotus flowers were used as a spiritual substance to help achieve higher states of consciousness.
