Gender // IKK Health Report by Julia Massow in Hamburg
Gender // IKK Health Report
For the IKK Health Report 2022, I created a series of artworks exploring the theme of gender-specific medicine. My approach involved using geometric figures to depict gender in a way that highlights subtle differences while maintaining a level of abstraction that resonates broadly with audiences.
Materials used: Colored Pencils
Meet the Artist
Hamburg, DeutschlandHi, I’m Julia, a German illustrator and visual artist currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. I create hand-drawn and mixed-media artwork inspired by human connection, emotion, and the natural world. I’m especially fascinated by portraits and the unique stories our faces tell. My work blends intricate pencil details with evocative storytelling, creating illustrations that feel both intimate and universally relatable.
With over 11 years of experience, I’ve collaborated with globally recognized brands such as Adidas, Faber-Castell Global, and Nylon Magazine, crafting compelling visual narratives. My work spans magazine features, musician collaborations, branding projects, and custom portraits, all with a focus on creating art that fosters connection and meaning. Collaboration is central to my process. I take the time to understand each client’s needs to create artwork that feels both authentic and impactful.
I believe that great art comes from collaboration and a deep understanding of the story behind it. That’s why I take the time to truly connect with my clients’ visions, ensuring every piece I create is not only visually striking but also meaningful.
