Galaxy Ceiling Mural by Kina Ink in Ottawa
Galaxy Ceiling Mural
Once upon a time my good friend Nancy commissioned me to paint a ceiling. I said no. Then she said the ceiling was smooth, primed, and that I could live at her house in a week. And that it would glow in the dark. And glitter involved. I said yes.
This ceiling mural time lapse was done over the course of 5 working days, Monday through Friday, in August 2020. I don't really know how many hours it took, but it was a lot of fun.
My husband made the scaffolding for me, and I was able to paint for long hours just like Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling without damaging my neck and back (too much).

Meet the Artist
Ottawa, CanadaHello! My name is Kina and I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Ottawa, Ontario. That basically means that I make art in all sorts of ways. I love to draw, paint and design. I received my BFA with distinction from the University of Concordia in Montreal in 2009.
These days, I do a mix of teaching as well as painting colourful canvases in both acrylics and oils. I also do paint-along parties for public and private events. I'm great with children and love to teach all ages. I am bilingual (French) though I prefer to teach in English.
I have decades of experience in graphic design and enjoy putting my art on stationery, stickers, clothing & prints. I'm also very adept at web design, print design and publication (such as magazines, photo editing, flyers, and websites).
I work all over the place. I can be found painting at my studio, as a member of the Loft Art Studios collective located in Little Italy in Ottawa. I teach part time at the Ottawa School of Art Orleans Campus, as well as the Beacon Hill Craft Club. I spend a good deal of time working from home, as well as on location for private events. You can find me at the Ottawa Art Gallery once a month, hosting Artawa (.ca) which I founded with my partner Bradley Forney in November 2016.
