Her hands frame her face on a background of washed out yellow. She refuses to look straight at you. Her gaze lingering over the viewers shoulder on something more interesting.

Melbourne, AustraliaI create portrait art on canvas with oil paint. Carefully I observe, then slowly sketch form and outline. Then add colour, depth and contrast.
I want to attract the viewer with a likeness which is familiar and recognisable. Then keep the audience searching for character, personality and energy.
There is such a challenge in portraiture. There is such a thrill to see lines, strokes and colour transform into human form. I’m inspired by identity, story and temperament coming to life in art.
I want to create artwork which catches your eye, that you can’t stop looking at.
