Controlled by Sound by Bilge in Vancouver

Controlled by Sound

This mural was painted in Canada, a space that allowed for creative exploration and connection with the local community. The design was created with the intention of sparking conversation about the invisible influence of media and technology on our daily lives. For this piece, I used high-quality acrylic paints, ensuring bold, lasting colors that contrast against the wall's natural texture. I combined traditional brushwork with spray paint to give the cassette tape a more mechanical, worn look, while the figure was painted using detailed strokes to capture the marionette-like strings. This mural is part of my personal collection, a passion project that explores the intersection of art, media, and human behavior. It wasn't commissioned but was rather an independent work inspired by the overwhelming impact of media in the digital age. The cassette tape, a symbol of nostalgia, is contrasted with the puppet-like human figure, illustrating how our modern-day consumption of media can sometimes control or dictate our actions. By painting this piece in [Location], I wanted to bring an introspective experience to the viewers, urging them to question how much of their identity is shaped by external forces, particularly through sound and media. The artwork encourages reflection on the power of nostalgia and the way it binds us to past experiences while subtly influencing who we are today.
