Relearning how to speak to myself 🗣️
Trying something new can result in some nasty self talk:
“You’re not ready”
“You’re not good enough”
“You can’t do this. You should give up”
Why do we give these horrible thoughts so much time and value? We let them control us, define us and defeat us. But if someone said the negative things we say to ourselves on a daily basis, we would disregard their comments as crazy talk and have some very ch*ice words in response.
Obviously, we will not have all the skills and knowledge when we start something new. There will be a slow learning process with lots of ups and downs and we are bound to make mistakes.
Don’t judge yourself for growing and learning. We need to alter the way we communicate with ourselves. Change the narrative by adding positivity, kindness and a healthy dose of reality:
“You are where you need to be at this moment. This is not a race. Move at a pace that feels comfortable to you. This is about endurance not speed”
“You are good enough and you will continue to improve”
“You can do this. Keep going. With hard work and consistency, you will get to where you want to be. Focus on the next step, not the entire staircase”

Art
_______________________
I create bold and vibrant illustrations seeped in positivity with a mild dose of surrealism and maximalism.
Last year, I left my job in interior design to rediscover my passion for art and become an independent creative. My work is strongly influence by this transition and explores my emotion states of navigating a new life path. I playfully address themes of mental health, anxiety, transformation, and growth. My art aims to be relatable, vulnerable, honest and upbeat. With imagery, I expose my inner voice and insecurities to encourage self care, connection and authenticity in others.
