Toronto-based fine artist Oblsk1 has been practicing abstract painting since 2006, using the medium as a vehicle to explore the visceral connections between colour, emotion, and spatial perception. His work is a continuous investigation into how visual language can evoke psychological responses and suggest layered dimensions of feeling and space. By merging urban influences with the organic, Oblsk creates paintings that are as much about internal experience as they are about visual complexity. Heavily influenced by street art and the movement of “graffuturism,” Oblsk’s aesthetic reflects a dynamic energy rooted in improvisation, gesture, and material experimentation. Simultaneously, the raw, evolving forms of natural landscapes play a key role in shaping his palette and compositional structure. His process involves building depth through unorthodox layering and mark-making, resulting in works that challenge the viewer’s sense of orientation and perception. Oblsk held his first solo exhibition in 2012, an experience that marked a pivotal point in his artistic journey.
