In 2022, I was commissioned by AMLI to create a new mural on the entrance of the resident parking garage at Mueller. This project was interesting in the creation stages because the art advisors had a painting of mine in mind they wanted me to use as a reference for the mosaic pattern of lines. The painting they referenced was only about 20" x 24", and this wall is close to 40 feet long. The process of gleaning some of the original imagery from my past work and blowing up the scale tremendously was amazing.
The wall was untouched brick, so the shape of the mural needed to be primed before the painting could begin. This meant having the design completely to scale and mapped out on the wall to ensure a proper fit. Once the white shape of primer was applied, each line of color was applied until the interconnectedness created the whole. The imagery was something I don't always get the chance to paint on this scale, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
