Amami Part IV - The Sign
Amami called on me once again to help out with a lack of sign situation. Once they built the outdoor patio it blocked all visibility from across the street see any of Amami's identity. Having painted the street side patio panel with a cropped logo and restaurant name, the area above the awning looked a bit naked and needed a sign. The interior of Amami is covered in various colored woods and rust colored angle iron on some of the corners mixed in. So it made sense to draw inspiration to making the sign with similar materials. I worked with a friend of mine to do the necessary welding for the iron frame surrounding the marine wood we used to construct the sign.
Meet the Artist
New York, United StatesHi, here's a little scoop on what I do. As a preteen I fell in love with the walls in my neighborhood covered in aerosol art murals and tags. Through the years that grew into the long time passion of mine typography, hand-lettering and sign painting. For a good part of my career I have spent working as an art director and graphic designer.
I thoroughly enjoy the process of the things I create whether it be a commercial, video, mural, logo, sculpture or otherwise. A great idea with the proper execution is king. And I live for those moments when it all comes together. The interdisciplinary practice of mixing all my skills is my life blood. I love it all. So when working directly with clients I thrive on collaboration to make the best decisions creating a harmony within art and design.
