Air by Rebecca Dzartov in Melbourne

Air

“Air” is the first in my “Elements” series. This piece was inspired by greenhouses and the simple beauty of flowers. An ornate wall with a filigree cross styled window is held up by two columns decorated with flowers and grapefruits. The columns are sliced into thirds and feature a bust of a man and woman within both of them, in front of a detailed wired window looking out onto a valley of mountains. We have pansies, orchids, daisies, mushrooms and other leafy plants potted and decorated with landscapes, eyes and faces. A couple mice pals and a sneaky snake occupy the floor, while a pair of hands covered in eyes and gems float effortlessly in the middle of the room. Featuring some metallic gold leaf detailing and “air” printed in Macedonian on the bottom left. Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
