Abstract Totem Collaboration

Commission by Newcastle University, Fine Arts building. Painted with aerosol. Collaborative project with NSW artist David Bergen. Bold, stylised totems rise from colourful abstract creation, a blending of conscious and unconscious processes, and a deliberate stark yet symbiotic contrast of visual styles. Both mine and David's philosophies and processes are significant to the work, however in it’s entirety the image is purposefully ambiguous. The collaboration of different styles highlights the significance of gaining inspiration from and working with those around us - a concept that resonates strongly with life at an art school.
