About
My parents bought me my first oil painting set when I was 12 years old and since then have been hooked on painting. I am self taught, but learnt a lot from studying some of my favourite old masters such as Canaletto, Vehemer, Constable. I have been a professional artist for 28 years, have exhibited in London and Cyprus and my work is in private collections in London, New York, Canada and Europe. My work has featured in a number of magazine publications and on Cyprus national TV. As well as working on commissioned pieces, I love teaching art in my studio. Mediums I use are oil, watercolour, acrylic and acrylic ink. Although I can paint any subject, my main interests are buildings, particularly cityscapes and people. Inspiration is from my travels and I have been known to travel to a particular place whilst a work is in progress to gather more details rather than just rely on a photographic reference to complete the work. Most of my commissions are portraiture and architecture and although my style is realism, my aim is not to replicate a photographic image. My watercolour painting technique is quite unique as I tend to paint several layers to produce bold, strong colour which is not normally associated with watercolour painting.
