Gusenga Patrick

Gusenga Patrick born in 1998 is a Rwandan visual artist based in Rwanda whose work explores social, political, and cultural narratives through both traditional and digital media. As the third of five children, he demonstrated artistic talent from an early age. During his childhood, he developed a strong interest in drawing, particularly cartoons and characters inspired by films and popular culture. His early artworks attracted the attention of neighbors and community members who frequently visited his family home to see his drawings. These formative experiences strengthened his confidence and confirmed his desire to pursue art as a lifelong path. Recognizing his commitment and natural ability, his parents supported his artistic growth by enrolling him in art school. This early formal training provided him with foundational technical skills and introduced him to structured artistic discipline. His curiosity and determination to expand his creative knowledge led him to pursue higher education at IPRC Kigali, where he studied Digital Media Production. During his time at IPRC Kigali, he developed a strong understanding of visual storytelling, multimedia communication, graphic design, and computer graphics. This academic experience allowed him to bridge traditional fine art techniques with contemporary digital practices, shaping the hybrid approach that defines his work today. Through both his academic journey and professional experience, Gusenga Patrick built expertise in the creative and digital industries at a young age. He has worked as a consultant in the creative and digital media field, contributing to communication strategies, branding concepts, and visual development projects. His ability to navigate between studio based artistic creation and applied digital production distinguishes his practice and reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary African art.
