About
I am an Artist and Muralist living and working out of Miami, Florida focusing on large-scale public works and gallery exhibitions. I spent my formidable years painting graffiti in the streets and on trains before pursuing my BFA in Fine Art/Illustration from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. I have held residencies at Red Bull Arts Detroit and Fortress Studios. I was fortunate to be a selected artist representing the United States at Imago Mundi during the 2013 Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy. He has work in the Kresge Foundation and the Detroit Historical Society’s Permanent Collection. My numerous solo shows include Triage at #Hashtag Gallery in Toronto, Ontario Canada in 2015, and Hiding In Plain Sight at LTU in Detroit, Michigan in 2018. My many group shows include A Piece In Time at SPACEWOMb in Manhattan, NYC in 2014 and Analog Featuring Peter Williams and Nancy Mitchnik at The Alley Project in Detroit, Michigan in 2016. Lacey has since gone on to exhibit with Superchief Gallery during Art Basel Miami Beach in 2019. My work is shown alongside artists such as Charles McGee, Kenny Scharf, and Swoon. Lacey has been featured in print and digital publications to the likes of Mass Appeal, Vanity Fair UK, The Huffington Post, and Vice Canada. While maintaining presence in the gallery circuit, I keep a heavy focus on large scale public murals. Painting for commercial, and independent business alike, my clientele spanning the likes of Amazon, LifeWtr, TIDAL, & Sierra Mist to many bespoke and independent purveyors. I have participated in mural festivals such as Murals In The Market, Detroit, Basel House and Wynwood Mural Festival in Miami, and Paint Memphis in Memphis Tennessee. Additionally, I have managed and produced projects such as The Exhibit Z project in Detroit, Michigan as well as numerous other projects for Artists such as but not limited to Tristan Eaton and Arturo Herrera. Though public art for the business sector are a regular part of my practice, I emphasize the importance of community oriented and non-profit based work. I often draws inspiration from memories and the material world while utilizing symbolism through vivid explorations of paint and repurposed materials resulting in hard-edged geometry, highly textural abstractions resulting in both realistic and abstract expressive portrayals. In all of my works I seek to interject curiosity and at times bring back to life the forgotten history found in communities, while always stimulating the imagination within an otherwise sterile environment or simply capture civic memories through creative design works in variety of mediums. My artistic elements aid in rebuilding the tangible and intangible characters of a community, bring disparate groups together with goals of creating more harmonious communities, establishing a sense of place, and promote a greater sense of belonging with those he engages while adding value to spaces and business' alike.
