Hi, I am a professional full time mural painter, located in Hamilton Ontario, with public art works created all over North America and Europe. Over the past two and half decades, I have collaborated with local agencies, businesses, committees, and government representatives creating public murals. In addition, I have experience creating sets and props for the motion picture industry, theatre, and escape rooms. A great source of inspiration is to get to know the people in the community, and to do historic research of each unique locale. I have the ability and experience to create works of art, and successfully respond to the surrounding community’s visions and ideas. The driving philosophy behind the art I create is that it becomes a force for good within a community. I approach each project with an open mind, a listening ear to the community, and with a constant challenge to build on previous creative experience. I strive to produce public art that brings people together from all walks of life, that inspires people with all unique backgrounds, and that promotes a shared pride within the community. Good public art reflects the culture of its surroundings, and it affects the people that are exposed to the artwork in positive ways. More specifically as to my artistic approach, I prefer combining abstract elements with realism, and three-dimensional optical illusions, using trompe l’oeil techniques. By employing these creative elements, I strive to evoke a positive reaction from any viewer, considering each person’s unique artistic sensibility. Before coming up with a proposal, I always investigate the potential perspective of the viewer, the surrounding landscape, the surfaces, and architecture of the building. Instead of just painting a wall, or simply installing a piece of art, I exploit every possible way to use the building, its architecture, its textures, and its surroundings to make the mural a perfect fit for its unique location. With this approach the artwork can retain a long-lasting attraction and remain interesting to the viewer.
