About
I'm a Korean American artist who lives in Chicago. My paintings represent growing up in South Korea, and living experience of other cultures. I grew up in a family of artists and entertainers. Very early on, I was surrounded by colorful Buddhist temple art and calligraphy. My grandfather was a temple artist who was an exceptional colorist and a highly regarded calligrapher. I studied Western art in the US and graduated from the University of Illinois with a MFA. I've been practicing art since 1996, primarily in painting. My art was reviewed in papers like Art in America, Art papers and many others. My paintings are abstract with some representational images. My pleasure of making art is when my art gives moments of pause to viewers. I believe in positive energy (called chi) and the uncompromising beauty of life.
