Ava is an award winning artist best known for her portrait and figurative work in her signature painterly realist style. Based in Birmingham, United Kingdom, with a previous career in fashion design for 8 years before transitioning to fine art, Khera has an exquisite eye for design and attention to detail with a unique expression of emotional depth.. Ava is entirely self-taught, she does however like looking at the old masters and studying their works. She has a love of the storytelling of Herbert James Draper and Sandro Botticelli while gravitating towards the deep, saturated colour palettes of the Rococo painters. Ava's paintings are inspired by personal experiences of growing up with a single mother in council housing and memories of livng a minimalist life travelling through Autrtalia and Indonesia. These moments are expressed through poetic storytelling and transcendent atmospheres. Working predominantly in oils, with particular emphasis on deep colour palettes and loose brushwork portraying the human experience, subjects and landscapes are rendered in multiple layers to depict textured, sensorial forms. Currently, Ava's work is receiving global recognition through gallery exhibitions. In 2023, she received the Women In Art Prize Flux Exhibition Prize. This award is aimed at supporting, encouraging and mentoring emerging women painters. Hosted in London, United Kingdom, Ava has also recently exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the first Annual Women in Art Fair.
