World Champions by Mystic Shanti in St. Louis

Commissioned by Harris Stowe State Univerisy, this mural preserves the history of one of the largest african american communities in st. louis, Mills Creek, and the historic baseball team that connected its residents, The St. Louis Stars. This team won the world championship in the negro league 3 years almost consecutively, and boast a rich history of triumph over struggle. this mural was designed with the input of St. Louis area Teens through St. Louis Artworks’ young artist apprenticeship program.
