Wishes for the Zoo by Gabriella Phillips in Chicago
Wishes for the Zoo
Most of my illustrations as of late come from my AP Portfolio. This piece is of a photo I took at a nearby zoo on a vacation. My goal was for it to display two different types of "messy" techniques, but portrayed in a sophisticated way so that it would all come together to create a sense of reflection. The flamingos are drawn through a sketchy style with alcohol markers, as opposed to the background, which has a more painterly feel with its brushstrokes to portray the murky water.
I am a college student currently studying Music Ed at Olivet Nazarene University. Previously studying Studio Art, I have taken college level courses for art throughout high school gaining awards for my pieces in events such as the Scholastic Art Awards and a finalist position in a local Fine Arts Showcase. I have a love of all things color, and enjoy excelling in all types of mediums, as I am a lover of learning! You will notice a lot of my portfolio pieces reside from my AP Portfolio, where I themed it on nostalgia and the use of color to demonstrate the emotion. I hope to inspire you with joy on your journey!
