Wine Country Close to Home
July 2024, Latex Paint on Concrete Wall, Ann Arbor, MI, 7' x 24’, Lead Artist, Private Residence
This piece was created for a wine cellar and is intended to transport the viewer to the old wine country. The landscapes and underground aesthetic were inspired by the Mersault Winery in France.
Meet the Artist
Ann Arbor, United StatesMy name is Samuel, and I am a graduate of the Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. My specialties include environmental themes, figurative designs, fantastical creatures, and the synthesis between each subject. Monsters reflect human qualities by exaggerating the experiences we all face. Society is more valuable when we appreciate the things or people that are misunderstood. My art urges viewers to exercise their empathy by bringing out everyone's playful inner monster.
I love public works because each project presents a different artistic challenge. Through this medium, I bring attention to my intent, the surrounding community, and an area’s history that may not be immediately apparent.
