William P. Fahey Horse of Honor by Fred in Lombard

William P. Fahey Horse of Honor

I’ve created public artworks for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation which is a non profit association. I created a The William P. Fahey Horse of Honor in 2014. I painted a Horse of Honor which is a public art exhibit for families of Chicago police officers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. Each horse was designed and painted by Chicago artists. We each had a budget and timeline to work within. I worked with a sponsor (Chicago Sports and Novelty) on creating a Chicago themed horse through discussions and sketch ideations. My horse has the Chicago flag which is blue and white stripes with red stars in the middle running alongside the horse. I hand painted the Chicago city skyline rising out of the blue of the flag on the neck of the horse. The sponsors grandfathers police badge number is on the front leg of the horse. I applied a urethane gloss sealant to protect the art from harsh weather elements as it was exhibited outside.
