Whale Tales 2022
Whale Tales 2022 is an immersive sculpture trail around Auckland with 80 contributing artists, each of us painting our interpretation of a healthy ocean.
Inspired by the endangered Bryde’s Whale, this initiative was hosted by WWF and sponsored by local businesses & organisations who each sponsored an artist to bring their submitted design to life.
For my design, I wanted to paint something vibrant that represents life and regeneration. Coral reefs help to regulate carbon dioxide levels in the ocean as well as provide shelter and homes to a wide range of ocean life, like an underwater city. Coral was the perfect subject matter for me as it satisfied my fondness for bold colours, organic shapes and fine detail.
Meet the Artist
Auckland, New ZealandI’m Kerri-Ann, a freelance Illustrator based in Auckland. My colourful, whimsical and detailed illustrations are created with a variety of traditional media mixed with digital.
I have worked on a number of client projects, with my illustrations finding their way onto magazine covers, childrens books, t-shirts, stationary and websites. I also help visualise a brand by designing logo's, style guides, moodboards and social media content to tell your brands unique story.
I can start my process by creating concepts to spark a creative direction or I am just as happy taking art direction. My goal is to create a unique illustration that helps tell a story or showcase a brand.
I particularly love working in publishing, editorial and advertising and my favourite subjects to draw include animals, people, inanimate objects and anything relating to nature and the natural world.
I'm available for freelance projects and collaborations.
