Visions of Texas by Madeinaprile in New York
Visions of Texas
Oil on canvas board, 5 × 7 inches
This original oil painting captures the quiet vastness of the Texas landscape through soft, layered brushstrokes and a warm, earthy palette. Muted mauves, dusty greens, golden yellows, and subtle pinks blend together to evoke open fields stretching beneath a hazy sky. The textured surface and loose composition give the piece an atmospheric, almost dreamlike quality, emphasizing mood over detail.
Painted on canvas board, this small-scale work feels intimate yet expansive, making it ideal for a shelf, gallery wall, or personal art collection. A one-of-a-kind piece inspired by the natural colors and calm rhythms of Texas land.

Meet the Artist
New York, United StatesKatherine (b. San Antonio, Texas) is a 24-year-old artist currently based in New York City. Interested in the arts since toddlerhood, she was the kind of child who confidently announced that art was the one thing she truly understood—never a jack of all trades, but happily competent at her chosen one.
She studied graffiti at Artpace San Antonio and attended summer intensives at the Fine Art Academy of San Antonio, focusing on figure drawing and oil painting. Katherine later earned her degree from Southwestern University, where she studied Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainability and a minor in English Literature. While she didn’t formally pursue fine arts at the collegiate level, she continued building her visual practice through coursework in art history and drawing.
After graduating, Katherine spent time in Los Angeles before settling in New York City, where she has recently left her position as an Assistant Store Manager for a luxury retailer to pursue art full-time. She primarily works in oil paint, colored pencil, and gouache, with experience in digital art.
Katherine’s work seeks to reveal her inner world—one rich in love, tenderness, and moments of deep tranquility—while acknowledging the quieter undercurrents of self-doubt and fear that linger beneath the surface. Through recurring symbolism of swords, wolves, unicorns, rabbits, and flowers, she explores the contrasting parts of herself that vie for her attention: softness and strength, innocence and protection, vulnerability and resolve. These motifs act as emotional markers, allowing her to navigate inner conflict with honesty and care, and inviting viewers to recognize the coexistence of beauty and uncertainty within themselves.
