Vicki.Bot Four-Ways by Mike Ewing in Harvard

Vicki.Bot Four-Ways

“Vicki.Bot Four Ways" shows child-like Vicki.Bot in four different poses with four different items. Vicki is fun because she's simple, and child-like yet she is surprisingly expressive. In this piece her eyes are looking in four different directions. She faces up, down, left, right, straight, etc. She's also holding some specific items that mean something. Knowing this was painted just after Russia invaded Ukraine the subtext became clearer:1.) The blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag are in the panels on the left. 2.) The sunflower in the upper right is the national flower of Ukraine. 3.) In the upper left panel (the red panel), Russian Vicki.Bot is holding a bear and she looks down, ashamed. 4.) The green panel includes Vicki.Bot with her wind-powered toy in a nod to the environment... and the implications of the war / Russian oil.
