Vancouver Mural Festival
The piece ‘Cosmic Breeze’ is a mural done for the Vancouver Mural Festival in 2019. It is a contemporary take on vintage design, referencing elements from the natural world and the cosmos. The vibrant colour palette and illustrative elements are a reflection of the counterculture movement of the 60’s while still staying relevant to today. The intricate line work details and graphic elements play with the sense of nostalgia and are meant to shoot the viewer back in time. The mural is also a representation of the west coast and reflects the surrounding landscapes; the mountains, forests and ocean. It reflects the relationship and connection between the universe and all living things. It plays with themes of magic, enchantment, creation and synergy.
Meet the Artist
Vancouver, CanadaAfter completing my graphic design diploma in 2015, I began to develop my illustration skills
and style. I quickly acquired a love for painting, which in turn, eventually allowed her to go large scale and design public murals and art for commercial projects. I am a visual artist who works across a multitude of mediums such as, murals, paintings and digital illustrations. I take inspiration from youth iconography, mythic narrative, pop art, and the styles and objects of a range of subcultures—including tattooing, still life, and romanticism. I incorporate graphic illustrative components, specific colour palettes and intricate line work to convey a feeling of cultural nostalgia and relevance. The versatility of my style shines through in its ability to transition between highly detailed compositions and more minimalistic designs, adapting to the demands of each unique project. Notably, my designs are crafted to resonate with a broad audience, striking a balance that makes it suitable for all age groups.
