Van Ghost by Natasha Rose Art in Hamilton

This piece is an expressive and creative homage to one of my favourite artists, Vincent Van Gogh. The piece was an exploration of impressionist techniques and stylizations representative of Van Gogh's work,. His colour palettes, brushstrokes, heavy textured alla prima method, and most importantly, his infamous self-portraits. In studying the artist's painting style and application, I wanted to replicate one of his self-portraits in a new and unique way, adding my own spin to it. It was created in October just before Halloween so I decided to add a spooky and thematic element by capturing his face as a decomposing skull. This is one of my favourite pieces I've completed to date.
