UpstairsDownstairs Resin Lamp 21 x 9 x 8in by Clay Brown in New York

UpstairsDownstairs Resin Lamp 21 x 9 x 8in

This resin sculpture table lamp is an ode to the most iconic New York skyscraper – The Chrysler Building. The concept for the base came from my own daily fascination at the inner workings of such an immense city. Every time I get a glimpse into the construction under a street, I marvel at the and innumerable water mains, connections for electricity, gas, plumbing, etc. I’m reminded that every time any beautiful building/company/restaurant/park/small business/welfare program is created, it’s the work of thousands of people, often not getting the credit they deserve, in service of a grand ideal for the betterment of our city. It reminds me that, while the towering structures and record-breaking titans are impressive, my favorite thing about this or any city is the humans, individual and collective, that make it. This piece is available for viewing (if in New York) and purchase, inquire below.
