Ultraviolet by Alexis Steyn in Denmark

24”x 30” Oil and Mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas. ‘Ultraviolet’ was inspired by the notion that all living things, seen and unseen to the naked eye, have a role to play in the balance of the universe. As a dichotomy, in and of itself, ultraviolet light has the ability to be beneficial and harmful to life. Despite the world’s complexities and nuances, it still remains whole and alive. This artwork is a representation of the constant cycle of death and rebirth. It shows us that despite all of the world’s paradoxes, every universal element somehow works together to create harmony and balance. Life in turn flourishes and so the cycle repeats again and again.
