UbomiIsNotASoloProject
“Ubomi,” the isiXhosa word for “life,” grounds this work in the understanding that life is never lived alone. From birth, we are carried — by family, by community, and at times by strangers who appear when we need them most. This piece reflects on interdependence as a fundamental human condition, reminding us that even in solitude, we are always held and shaped by others.

Meet the Artist
Johannesburg, South AfricaI am a Johannesburg-based multidisciplinary, self-taught artist working primarily in painting and charcoal, hand-crafted mediums. I have been creating art for as long as I can remember and began my professional practice shortly after high school. I’m deeply drawn to micro works (A4 scale and smaller), i enjoy the intimacy and presence matter of it. Small pieces hold a quiet power, they ask you to come closer, to pay attention, to feel something even if it’s subtle.
being artistically challenged fuels a sense of thrill and aliveness within me, so creating for others is just an extension of that energy.
