Tres generaciones tres Patrias by Angurria in Santo Domingo
Tres generaciones tres Patrias
Mural made for the National Day of Racial Healing 2019, organized by Array Now a is a multi-platform arts and social impact collective dedicated to narrative change, founded by filmmaker Ava DuVernay. Ah honor of having been chosen to represent, with this piece, a message of healing and persistence.
Meet the Artist
Santo Domingo, Dominican RepublicOmar García, better known as Angurria, is a Dominican illustrator, art director and graphic muralist with 25 years of career in the world of advertising, within which he has worked for multiple local and international brands which have chosen his talent for their campaigns, among them: Altice, Café Santo Domingo, MLB, Adidas, Warner Brothers, HBO MAX, McDonald's International, Shiner Beer, Fireball, Chivas Regal, among others.
As a muralist, he has an extensive career of almost 10 years in which he ventured into the urban art scene creating his well-known “Doña Patria” series with which he has participated in the majority of local muralism and urban art activities, thus positioning himself among the best artists in the country.
Thanks to this versatility in his style, he developed the first Dominican mural commissioned in Los Angeles, California for Film Director Ava Duverney and has been able to participate in multiple mural festivals in both Latin America and North America, of which stands out Pow Wow (Worcester, MA.), Beyond Wall (Lynn MA.), Extra Muros (San Juan, P.R.), Santurce es Ley (San Juan, P.R.), Fiesta de Colores (Ecuador), Museum of Urban Art (Lima, Peru ), Aerosol Fest (Cartagena, Colombia, Design for the Kids, Wallride, Rayaera, Artesano Proyect, Provocadores del Caribe, Transitando Art, Hoy Santa Barbara, Hoy Villa Francisca and the 6 Muralizado RD events in different provinces of the country.
