Towards Flourishing by Miko in Singapore

Inspired by the dignified and noble beauty of a peacock with its open fan out feathers when it walks the grassland, the painting imagines free and thriving confidence of a nation stepping out towards the unchartered grassland. With dripping blue acrylic paint as the background, the peacock's feathers are accentuated with a delicate use of impasto technique. Besides that, I assemble nine Joaquim Orchids into the open wide fan out feathers representing the date of our National Day and our Singapore national flower respectively. I put finely cut yarn threads as the grassland indicating the path of our nation ahead could be ambigous and uncertain. However, combining a strong integrated identity within and watchful but inventive feathering moves against all odds, the horizon is nothing but only the limit of our sight.
