Total Eclipse of the Heart by Gabriella Phillips in Chicago
Total Eclipse of the Heart
This mixed media piece was inspired from a photo of my grandparents looking up at a solar eclipse. I drew them in detail with colored pencils, and created a more free-flowing background with acrylic paint to display a more surreal environment to really connect with their childlike imaginations. Growing up, I always looked up to them for seeing the world through such a positive and fun lens, and this piece is an ode to them and my childhood. This is a piece from my AP drawing portfolio.
I am a college student currently studying Music Ed at Olivet Nazarene University. Previously studying Studio Art, I have taken college level courses for art throughout high school gaining awards for my pieces in events such as the Scholastic Art Awards and a finalist position in a local Fine Arts Showcase. I have a love of all things color, and enjoy excelling in all types of mediums, as I am a lover of learning! You will notice a lot of my portfolio pieces reside from my AP Portfolio, where I themed it on nostalgia and the use of color to demonstrate the emotion. I hope to inspire you with joy on your journey!
