Viteri is a multidisciplinary colombian visual artist. His artistic journey began in childhood under the mentorship of the renowned Colombian master Manuel Estrada, who instilled in him a profound and enduring passion for the arts. During his adolescence, Viteri moved to Bogotá city, where he deepened his artistic training. He completed his studies at the Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá (ASAB), part of the Faculty of Arts at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas, graduating with a degree in Fine and Visual Arts. Within this esteemed institution, Viteri honed a diverse repertoire of techniques, spanning oil and acrylic painting, watercolour, printmaking, sculpture, and photography, consolidating his creative versatility. Recognition for his work was swift; in 2012, he was awarded in the IV Faber-Castell Artistic Competition, Reconcili-arte, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bogotá. In 2015, Viteri relocated to Mexico City, where he lived until 2019, immersing himself in the city ’s rich history and culture. This experience profoundly influenced his colour palette and visual aesthetics. During his time in Mexico, he exhibited his work in various galleries. Following the global upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to Colombia to prepare his first solo exhibition, Allegory to Existence, which was showcased at Galería Málaga Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City in 2022, this was an exhibition that reflected his continual artistic evolution. In 2023, Viteri embarked on a new chapter, moving to Sydney, Australia, to further his artistic and cultural exploration. His arrival was marked by an immediate triumph: within four months, he became the first Colombian to win Art Battle Sydney 2023, an internationally recognised live painting competition. Beyond the realm of fine arts, Viteri has also explored the cinematic language in Bogotá. He contributed his talents to various audiovisual projects and co-founded the independent production company Mopa Mopa Films alongside his sister. In 2019, he gained recognition as the director of the short film Paréntesis de madre, which was officially selected for two international festivals: FILMETS - Badalona Film Festival in Spain and the Quarantine Film Challenge at the San Diego International Film Festival in the United States. Additionally, he produced two segments for Señal Colombia on the television programme En Órbita. In recognition of his commitment to storytelling and social impact, Mopa Mopa Films was awarded funding by Colombia’s Ministry of Culture in 2022 to conduct audiovisual workshops for the indigenous Awá community in Ricaurte, Nariño—an area deeply affected by the country ’s armed conflict. In 2020, Viteri expanded his artistic practice into theatre and film acting, joining the Fundación Teatro-Danza Pies del Sol. He performed as both an actor and musician in the play Hebras virtuales y reales tejen la casa de Bernarda Alba. Currently based in Sydney, Australia, Viteri maintains strong ties with Galería Málaga in Mexico City and exhibits his work on the French virtual gallery Singulart. Since 2022, he has also served as the virtual creative director of the Talent Show at Liceo Boston in Bogotá, Colombia.
