There is Fire in your Eye by Olivia Pinkney in London
There is Fire in your Eye
This piece was a collaboration with the artist Vlad Niculescu and it is about 8 feet squared. We played with the colouration of the iris and created a 3D effect with the use of contrast and depth in the piece.
Hi there! I am a London-based multidisciplinary artist, specialising in portraiture, working with oil paint, acrylic paint and spray paint. My practice works with the tenderness of the human condition and I am interested in the stories within the body and revealing what is hidden from social conditioning. My work aims to capture that at the core of every individual there is a desire to be seen in our pain and authenticity. Creating intimacy in the intensity and emotional complexity that every body and face holds, is integral to my practice.
For the last 15 years, I have been specialising in portraiture, which can be the most challenging but also rewarding work. I see portraiture as energy work, I am transcribing someone's energy onto a canvas and showing the layers of depths in the expressionism that a photograph cannot show. I have been commissioned to paint life-size portraits and animal portraits in oil and acrylic paint on canvas. I have been practicing street art and murals around east London recently. I also teach painting at a sip and paint company, where we teach simplified versions of well-known paintings to beginners such as Van Gogh's "Starry Night". I have been collaborating with other artists in London as an artist collective, creating events and exhibitions and showcasing different people's work.
I have exhibited in:
Espacio Gallery, Shoreditch
Metred Squared, Kensington
The Royal Court, Westminster,
The Hastings Art Forum, East Sussex
SKT Spaces, Hoxton
