The White Tiger of the West by Busyrawk.murals in Edmonton
The White Tiger of the West
This was first of the 4 mural series “The 4 Guardian Beasts of Chinatown” . The 4 constellations - White TIger of the
West, Azure Dragon of the East, Vermillion Bird of the South, Black Tortoise of the North are guardians of sacred
places. Edmonton’s Chinatown is at a struggle from becoming gentrified and disappeaing. These guardians will
be painted across 4 separate locations in Chinatown, each facing their corresponding cardinal directions, protecting
Chinatown town encroachers and colonizers. The Azure Dragon will be painted next as it is the auspicious year
of the Blue Dragon in 2024.
