The Petals Fall When Heaven Turns Away
This painting is more so of a story rather than a message!! I was feeling uninspired to make art so i went to the MFA and there i took inspiration from Van Goghs use of Japanese print making in his background’s—combining it with my own style and story by using s lotus flower (Egypt's national flower=stands for divine beauty) as the bg! I also took inspiration from the bold gold in Coptic icons—I'm Coptic myself so i thought it'd be fitting to incorporate gold in this painting! I wanted to also go for a flatter look to imitate the Coptic style while incorporating bold mark making to stay true to my style. What inspired the subject itself was my dad's love for birds—my dad always talks about how we should be more like birds who don't store food who only trust that God will provide. God never forgets anyone including the tiny birds who he feeds every day. To me birds are a symbol of God's love for us. You may ask—if this is about Gods love why is the angel weeping? The angels weeping because we know God loves us, but we don't always see feel it—the angels weeps yet the birds are happy at the bottom as a reminder that even if you don't feel it God does provide and he loves us!! So, i guess there is a message too ha-ha. That's it for this one :)
