The Owl and the Marsh Partridge Bride by EL naz in Aarhus
The Owl and the Marsh Partridge Bride
This northern Iranian folktale is an example of an old oral tradition in which people explained natural phenomena through storytelling. In this tale, the quarrel between an owl and his marsh-partridge bride becomes a poetic interpretation of the owl’s haunting call. The villagers believed that the bird’s “voo… voo…” cry echoed across the paddies like the foam drifting on still water—turning a simple sound of nature into a meaningful story. Through this imaginative lens, the tale reflects how earlier communities gave voice, character, and emotion to the landscape around them.
Meet the Artist
Aarhus, DenmarkHello, and thank you for visiting my profile.
I am a mural artist and freelance illustrator currently based in Aarhus. I have completed several large-scale wall paintings for schools and kindergartens, creating bright, educational, and child-friendly murals that transform spaces and inspire imagination. I have also produced promotional murals for children’s centers, combining visual storytelling with clear communication.
As an illustrator, I focus on Iranian folklore and traditional narratives, bringing cultural stories to life through expressive characters and vibrant compositions. I enjoy blending heritage with contemporary styles to create artwork that feels both familiar and fresh.
I also have experience teaching children how to illustrate stories and express their creativity through art. Working with kids has strengthened my ability to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging visuals.
Through this platform, I aim to continue working in two main areas:
• mural painting for educational and community spaces,
• and illustration inspired by cultural storytelling and children’s art education.
If you are looking for an artist with creativity, professionalism, and strong experience in mural work and narrative illustration, I would be happy to collaborate on your next project.
