The Nazca Priestess by Taryn in Calgary

The Nazca Priestess

This mural was painted in Peru, inspired by a mummy found in Nazca. She was a priestess who used the Wachuma cactus during ceremonies and had many symbolic tattoos. The cactus has mescaline, a psychoactive substance that can give visions or a fractal distortion of reality. It was practiced in ceremonies at the Nazca's time, more than 2000 years ago. They used it to connect with their gods and nature and find a way to live in harmony with each other. I incorporated traditional textiles, pottery and elements to tell her story.
