The Morrigan by Van Jimmer in London

The Morrigan

The Morrigan is a tri-goddess from Irish Mythology: she was a associated with war and fate. The Morrigan was such a powerful symbol of life and birth that the Celts believed she could revive their dead soldiers to fight once more. The ground was considered sacred after the battle, as the soldiers would leave until the next day so Morrigan could gather the souls undisturbed. The raven was one of her symbols, as a scavenger bird, and an omen of prophecy and war. She embodied a strong woman, known for magic and sorcery but also to fight alongside the battlefield.
