The Golden Fracture by Angella Mackennie in Gaborone
The Golden Fracture
This painting is part of my watercolor collection 'Fragments of Grandeur' A body of work where I explore emotion, identity and resilience through intentional details.
This piece in particular is called “The Golden Fracture.” It represents the way we carry pain and still move forward. The cracks in the face are deliberate for they’re not flaws but stories. The gold isn’t just decoration; it’s growth, it’s strength, it’s what’s been earned through hardship. That idea of breaking, but not being broken — of holding yourself together in the quietest, most powerful ways — that’s what I wanted this to speak to.
