The Butchers Medusa by Ignacio Querejeta in Bendigo

The Butchers Medusa

Location: Cadell Place, Wagga Wagga Client: Wagga Wagga Council This mural was part of the inaugural “Lost Lanes Festival which sought to revitalize a “lost” and neglected part of the city. “My immediate reaction was to paint something bold and surprising in this lost space; to give those who wander something to be discovered in these hidden places. The outer wall of the butcher’s shop is an interesting surface to explore and I think of the Medusa and the butcher in the role of Perseus in his work of cutting and cutting ... delicious and very varied meats. Mythology, wall art and irony are the ingredients of "Medusa" an image of strong impact for the Mural and the Lost Lanes Festival.”
