The Burden Of Beauty
This artwork explores the connection between nature and beauty, showing how both can be gentle yet complex. The flowers and butterflies symbolise natural beauty, growth, and transformation, adding softness and calm to the piece. In contrast, the distorted face challenges traditional ideas of beauty, suggesting that beauty is not always perfect or symmetrical. Instead, it can be emotional, unique, and imperfect. Like nature, which is constantly changing and not flawless, this piece shows that true beauty comes from authenticity and transformation rather than perfection.
Meet the Artist
Brisbane, AustraliaI’m a Brisbane-based artist specialising in landscapes, beaches, and sunsets, painted primarily in gouache. I’m drawn to mood, light, and colour — especially the quiet moments where the sky shifts and the horizon softens. Gouache suits my style for its matte finish, bold opacity, and ability to move between crisp, graphic shapes and softer blends. I build work in layers, simplifying forms and using composition to create calm, transportive scenes rather than photorealistic detail. My goal is to capture what a place feels like — warmth, stillness, and the glow of day’s end. I create originals and accept commissions.
