Textile Designs by CMM Illustration in Castlemaine
Textile Designs
I created these textile designs to sell on tshirts, pillowcases and tote bags.
In the display image you can see a brains pattern on the far left, a watermelon in the middle and ice cream on an aqua background on the right.
The brains design was hand drawn, and the other two were created in illustrator and photoshop.
Unique conceptual illustrations delivered on-time and to specifications.
My name is Caroline. I create loose, black-and-white, semi-blind contour line work drawings, sometimes with a pop of colour. They are often conceptual and the subject matter features people, hands, bandages, flora, food and fashion. The technique I use is influenced by Satoshi Hashimoto, Daniel Clowes, Adrian Tomine and Quentin Blake.
I was inspired to become an illustrator by two things; the first the array of magazines my father brought home from business trips - usually in-flight magazines that talked about amazing food and cultures, or business and current affairs publications containing political articles and cartoons.
The second was Japanese culture and aesthetics. I left Australia for Japan in 2008 and it completely changed my worldview. I love Japanese print design, traditional architecture and fashion.
This childhood and adulthood immersed in global traditional media has driven me to collaborate with clients to inspire, excite and educate, whether in physical medium or online. Because I have worked as a graphic designer, ensuring deadlines are met and the client is happy is very important to me.
