Te Kura O Mataura
My most recent mural was created in collaboration with Te Kura o Mataura. The design was developed through conversations with the school about the values they wanted to share with their community, and the students contributed ideas that were incorporated into the final composition.
In this project I balanced my own hard-edged, maximalist design style with something appropriate for a primary school environment. The mural uses strong shapes and heavily saturated colour, built from a palette of 67 Resene colours. Painted on a rough brick wall, the work was completed over three weeks, using multiple layers of paint to create intense colour.
