"Strings of Surrender" captures a poignant metaphorical narrative with a wooden-legged boy held captive by invisible puppet strings. The piece invites contemplation on the nature of control and autonomy, urging viewers to reflect on the strings that manipulate their own lives and the potential to break free.
Meet the Artist
Portland, United StatesShade is a creative specializing in large scale public art and illustration. She is a former professional soccer player turned footwear designer. Her work pulls from her multifaceted background of design, engineering, and sport. Often putting a spin on the familiar, she creates colorful scenes that embrace how shape, shadow, layering and movement interact. These whimsical works of abstraction are derived from Fola’s thoughts, emotions, and observations of the world. With her ever-evolving approach to art, she is constantly pushing to expand how we think of art and breaking the traditional norms.
