A 3 story gable end mural painted for the Stanley Studios student accommodation in Dundee.
It was important that the design of this one captured the industrial history of Dundee, but still felt relevant to the students who will live here. To do that, I used the colour palette of the 3 universities nearby and used graphic imagery that represents the city’s industrial past and the subjects that the universities are best known for.
Dave is Glasgow-based artist with a bold vision. He has created a look and style that stands out as his own as well as working under his commercial alias Crooked Studios. All work is immersed in music subcultures, film, tattoo art, and Americana culture, Dave influences pour out from him, producing work that is drenched in nostalgia and grit.
In 2023, Dave held an exhibition in Glasgow, where he presented a body of work meticulously crafted over two years in his studio. This milestone led to an invitation to become Yardworks' first resident artist in their newly established studios.
During this 9-month residency, Dave plunged himself further into his own artistic practise while beginning to build a portfolio of commercial projects.
His portfolio includes large-scale outdoor murals, music festivals, work on TV sets, and contributions to Scottish art festivals such as Yardworks Festival and Park XR.
He continues to push the boundaries of his craft with a signature style that blends graffiti, street art and sign-painting.
Through work on his instantly recognisable solo projects, collaborations with fellow artists, and outreach work in the community, Dave continues to contribute to the vibrant, ever-growing Scottish art scene.
