Scientific illustrations intrigued me at the beginning of my journey as an artist. Observing the complexity and detail of every human organ, I began replicating the patterns of every bone, vein, and organ. Over time, I started experimenting with abstraction to develop more intricate patterns naturally. In my artist talk, I would like to discuss the biology of the human body. It is organic yet intricate, with many compositions within our systems, allowing us to have many versatile functions. As well as discussing my process of using thick applications of paint, which allowed me to create movement and rhythm throughout my pieces. Through abstraction, finding the balance between chaos and order helps me create patterns that reflect the transition between the body and soul. Despite the vibrant colors I was using, my compositions gave a certain connotation of fear to the viewer; eventually, I incorporated typography to redirect the viewer to a different point of view. My main goal is to showcase how beautiful, complex, and vibrant our bodies are despite being temporary. This brief life span is so sudden; taking the time to appreciate our bodies, our health, and our families all comes from a place of love. We must not fear these paintings of a brain, ribcage, or eyeball, but realize how powerful we are with them.
